Ms. Afifa Rasheed serves as lecturer in the Life Science Department at the Barani Institute of Sciences, Burewala, affiliated with PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi. She is actively engaged in teaching and mentoring students, contributing significantly to academic excellence through her dedication and expertise. With a strong academic background in Home Economics (Food and Nutrition), she holds both BS (Hons.) and MSc (Hons.) degrees in the discipline, demonstrating her commitment to the field of nutrition and health sciences.
Afifa Rasheed is an accomplished academician and professional in the field of Food and Nutrition, currently serving as a Lecturer at Barani Institute of Sciences, affiliated with Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Sub-campus Burewala. She has also worked as a tutor at Allama Iqbal Open University from 2019 to 2022, contributing to distance education and student support. Ms. Afifa holds a M.Sc. (Hons.) and B.Sc. (Hons.) in Home Economics with specialization in Food and Nutrition from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, one of Pakistan’s premier institutions in agricultural and food sciences. Her postgraduate research focused on the efficacy of turmeric tea in the treatment of osteoarthritis, reflecting her interest in functional foods and therapeutic nutrition.
She has participated in numerous national and international seminars, conferences, and workshops on themes including maternal health, malnutrition, food security, and sustainable food systems. Her academic contributions also include a published abstract on anemia trends in Pakistan. In addition to her teaching and academic engagements, she completed clinical nutrition training at Sheikh Zayed Postgraduate Medical Institute, Lahore, and remains actively involved in professional networks as a member of the Pakistan Nutrition and Dietetic Society (PNDS), the Student Nutritionist Club Pakistan, and Young Development Corp (YDC).
