Traffic Awareness Seminar & Walk - 2022

Under the chairmanship of District Police Officer (DPO) Vehari, Mr. Muhammad Zafar Buzdar, a Traffic Rules Awareness Seminar and Walk was organized in collaboration with Samab Social Media Activists – Burewala and Barani Institute of Sciences (Arid University) Burewala. As part of the campaign, helmets were also distributed among citizens to promote safe riding practices.

The event was attended by SDPO Burewala, Mr. Muhammad Waseem Sial, DSP Traffic, Mr. Nasir Iqbal, Deputy Director Barani Institute, Mr. Adnan Asif, social media activists Mr. Shehzad Mustafa Chauhan, Mr. Muhammad Latif Khilji, as well as members of the civil society, faculty members, and a large number of students.

The purpose of the seminar was to educate students about everyday traffic accidents and ways to prevent them. Informative lectures were delivered on traffic safety, road discipline, accident prevention, benefits of helmet use, dangers of one-way driving, over-speeding, mobile phone usage while driving, road racing, and one-wheeling. The harmful effects of underage driving were strongly discouraged.

Addressing the gathering, DPO Vehari Mr. Muhammad Zafar Buzdar highlighted that the main causes of road accidents include driver negligence, poor vehicle fitness, and damaged road conditions. He stressed that fault determination after accidents is essential and advised educational institutions and shopping plazas to allocate proper parking spaces.

Participants were also informed about community policing and how students can play their role in improving the traffic system. They were encouraged to report traffic violations and guide others towards following rules to support Vehari Police in this process of reform.

The seminar concluded with distribution of helmets among students and a traffic and smog awareness walk, where helmets were also handed out to citizens.
