Water is the sign of human existence. The alarming situation of water scarcity needs the earnest measures to tackle this grave issue. Barani Institute of Sciences upholds the concern for such considerable cause and arranged a “Water Summit” on August 4, 2018. There were basically four session of this summit. In the 1st session, Mian Muhammad Sajid (CEO, Barani Institute of Sciences), Dr. Riaz Hamdani (Director, Sahiwal Arts Council), Dr, Hassan Ali Baig (Assistan Professor, Institute of Geo Information & Earth, PMAS Arid Agriculture University), Omer Kausar Malik (Technical Advisor, Agriculture Delivery Unit, Govt of Punjab) and Muhammad Zaman Watoo (Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal) addressed as key note speakers.
In the 2nd session, A Panel discussion of experts was done with the focus upon synergies among water security, economic prosperity, finance and technology to deliver water solutions for both industries and utilities. Muhammad Zaman Watoo (Chief Guest), Umer Kauser Malik (Keynote Speaker), Dr. Moubashir Riaz Malik (Speaker) and Muhammad Moazam Shahbaz (Panel Moderator) were the main participants of this discussion.
In the 3rd session, a community awareness walk was done by all distinguished guests, students and local community.
In the 4th session of this Summit, “One Student One Tree Project” was inaugurated. It was a project of tree plantation by collaboration of Barani Institute of Sciences and DCO Sahiwal. Students of Barani Institute of Sciences also planted trees in district courts of Sahiwal as a component of this project.
