Seminar on “SAY NO TO PLASTIC”
Sustainable Development Program by UN has forced developing countries to have focused look at waste management and included educational Institutions as key players. Barani Institute of Sciences can never be negligent on this part. To address the crucial concerns due to the use of plastic, Barani Institute of Sciences and Environment Protection Department jointly arranged a seminar on the topic titled as “SAY NO TO PLASTIC”. The educational, industrial and administrative stakeholders gathered on this platform as representatives from Comsats University, University of Sahiwal, Sahiwal Chamber of Commerce, Trader’s Union, Polythene Association, Karyana Association, Media, Department of Health, Sahiwal Arts Council, Punjab Food Authority and Social Welfare Department attended this seminar. The speakers from academia, industry and administration addressed about the hazardous effects of plastic and suggested the remedies. Muhammad Zaman Wattoo (Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal) extremely appreciated this noble effort by Barani Institute of Sciences. At the end of Seminar, an awareness raising walk was done and bags made of cloth were distributed among public to encourage the avoidance of plastic.
